My Story
Stephen Cui (12 years old) was born in Toronto, Canada. He started his violin journey when
he was 5 years old in the Royal Conservatory of Music. One year later when he was 6, he
added piano into his music toolbox. In 2019, he moved to Bellevue, Washington with his
family. After that, he has been studying violin and piano with Dr. Cristian Neacsu and Dr.
Qian Yin Neacsu.
In 2024, he earned Top prize in the King's Peak International Music Competition, Gold star in the Music and Stars awards, and US New Star String Competition.
He got the highest score in the Canada Royal Conservatory of Music school Northwest
region in his level 9 violin exam (first class with honors). He was invited to perform at the
RCM Celebration of Excellence concert as one of the only two violins performers among
around 30 others performers.
In the summer of 2024, Stephen was selected to perform Bruch Violin Concerto No 1 with
the Perugia Chamber Orchestra in Italy.
Besides music, Stephen loves reading, math, and science. He is currently a 7th grader in the advanced learning program in Bellevue. He has won many Math competition prizes,
including Distinguished Honor Roll (top 1%) in 2024 AMC 10, which qualified him to take
AIME in 2025.
